How To Make Money with Google Maps
Now, the first thing you want to do is go to Google Maps.
I’ve always used google chrome for this, so that’s what I’d suggest using for you too.
And the nice thing about this is that you can use businesses from all over the country.
You don’t have to actually meet them in person to do what I’m going to show you.
And if you’ve never used google maps before, let’s type in a business like carpenters minneapolis.
Service-based businesses like carpenters, roofers, electricians, chiropractors, etc are going to be the best types of businesses for this strategy for sure.
And as for the city, you can choose wherever you want like I said.
I chose minneapolis as an example, because that’s my home town and I love it, and I know what you’re thinking – so please don’t make any disrespectful comments about my city.
Now if you’re new to this kind of thing there are either 3 or 4 places where you will get the most traffic on google for businesses.
- You can either be on google guaranteed.
- You can pay for ads and be in the top spot.
- You can rank in the map pack which is the top 3 of google maps.
- Or, you can rank in the regular search engine at the top of Google.
Google guaranteed is the top, but it’s not always going to be there.
So typically it will be ads, map pack, and regular search results.
Because google maps is the biggest here and sticks out the most, that’s where a huge chunk of businesses traffic comes from.
And not only is it free, which makes it’s easier and less expensive than paying for ads…
But it’s a lot less hard to rank in the top of maps than it is to rank on top of the search engines against global companies with huge reach (so way less competition).
But that’s just a quick explanation because it’s good to understand those things, especially if you plan on doing this – in case a business you’re helping has any questions.
But we aren’t going to be ranking anyone in the top of maps, I already went over that in one of the other videos in the google maps series.
But we are going to be going into the maps listings and looking for something on these listings that we can use to get our foot in the door and build trust with the business.
And that something we’re looking for is a business that isn’t claimed on their Google My Business listing.
The reason we’re using this is a way to get our foot in the door is because they’ve actually said that they may be removing all the listings on Google My Business that haven’t been claimed, which is why it’s such a good way to get our foot in the door right
Now, let’s look at these listings and I’ll find one for example for you.
After that, I’ll show you the email/phone script you can use to help get the attention of the business and get our foot in the door.
Then, I’ll show you how to make even more money on the back-end.
As for the maps listing, usually the ones at the top of the “map pack” (top 3 listing on maps) will already be claimed and we won’t be able to do this for them.
However, Minneapolis carpenters are super low competition.
So I’ll choose “Carpenter Ben” and then what you want to do is y click on this thing that says “Own this business?”
After clicking that, if it pops up with something that will let you manage the listing, then the business isn’t claimed yet.
And claiming the business is a super simple process to do, but prior to claiming their business, you want to make sure the business is on board with everything.
So don’t worry about anything until after you speak to them about it.
Then, just use their contact page on their website or call them using the phone number on their listing.
Whether you call them or email them, this is a basic script you can use:

I noticed your google my business listing isn’t claimed and recently, Google announced that listings that aren’t claimed are at risk of being removed from the google maps listings completely.
However, it’s not a worry because it’s actually a very simple process to claim your business and I’d be happy to help you with that process.

However, it’s always best to have your own website with your own domain and domain email.
Like for example, I have my website here at ThomasGaretz.com and my domain email is [email protected]…
…instead of [email protected]
A gmail email is a lot less professional, especially when reaching out to businesses.
The nice thing is, you can set everything up for very inexpensive with Bluehost here.
It’s like $60 and they give you a free domain, a free domain email, and 1-click WordPress install.
However, it’s not required to own a website and domain email, but it will make things easier.
Now, once they respond to your email or phone call, you can charge them like $100 for claiming their business and just be done and never speak to them again.
OR, you can offer them additional services (which is what I suggest to do).
For this strategy, I suggest building them a website.
You can easily charge them $500+ for a simple WordPress website and you can even have them sign up for Bluehost web hosting with your affiliate link (like I did here) and get an extra little commission on top, at no extra charge to them.
Now, if you end up making your own website like I suggested you do – you would’ve learned how to set up a website all by yourself. This means, you can set the business a website up all by yourself, rather than outsourcing it.
I learned how to create a website on WordPress with free YouTube tutorials, it’s actually way easier than you think.
But if that’s not your thing, you can go to a website called Fiverr.
Then, once the person agrees to pay you $500+ to build out their website (you can invoice them with PayPal or Invoiceley) you go over to Fiverr and type in “WordPress website.”
You then pay the freelancer to build the website for them, and you keep the profit.
It’s a very simple process.
There are tons of freelancers on there charging anywhere from $45-$225+ for a simple website.
So if you charged $500, paid a freelancer $225… you would make $275 in profit and not have to do any of the work.
And truly, that’s one of the best, simplest, and most inexpensive ways to start your own business using Google Maps.
Plus, you’ll be able to learn some super important skills in the process.
But at the end of the day, you are required to do the work one time, to get paid one time.
